Aerobic respiration
Aerobic respiration is used when the body is continuing with activity for a long
period of time and the energy to do so is produced with oxygen.
Equation
GLUCOSE + OXYGEN = CARBON DIOXIDE + WATER + ENERGY
Anaerboic respiration
Anaerboic respiration is used when physical activity is carried out without the
use of oxygen. This can be only used in short burst and for short periods.
Equation
GLUCOSE = LACTIC ACID + ENERGY
Oxygen Debt
Because the glucose can only be partly broken down in the abscence of oxygen,
LACTIC ACID is produced together witha much smaller
amount of energy.
Build up of Lactic Acid causes acute fatigue
and results in OXYGEN DEBT, wich must be repaid
by continued deep breathing after exercise.
