Muscular Endurance
Muscular Endurance is the ability of Muscles to contract
and relax REPEATIDLY over a long period of time
against a resistance eg cycling and long distance
running.
Muscular Strength
Muscular strength is the amount of force, muscles
are able to exert against a resistance.
The 3 types of Strength
Static
muscle length remains constant
maximum force versus an immovable object
little or no movements of limbs
eg a rugby scrum
Explosive
maximum force used in one movement ie POWER
combination of speed and force
eg shott putt and high jump
test for explosive strength - vertical jump
Dynamic
repetitive application of force ie muscle contractions to keep a load moving over
a long period of time
eg. rowing or swimming
Improving Muscular Strength
We must use the SPORt priciple of training
