Functions of the Circulatory System

The Circualtory System is the bodys transport system. It carries blood from the heart all the cells of the body to provie them with Food and Oxygen and,

it carries WASTE PRODCTS including CARBON DIOXIDE away from the cells

Blood is pumped to the lungs so that OXYGEN and CARBON DIOXIDE can be exchanged.

The System consists of THE HEART, THE BLOOD VESSELS, and THE BLOOD.


The Heart and the Major Blood Vessels


The heart is divided into two parts. Each part is a pump so the heart is a DOUBLE PUMP


Remember ARTERIES+ Away from the heart.

The Aorta is the largest artery

The VENA CAVA is the largest vein

PULMONARY means to do with the lungs

The PULMONIARY ARTERY carries blood from the heart to the lungs to pick up oxygen.
It's the only artery carrying DEOXYGENATED blood.
